While it did eventually air on Disney Channel, they didn't make an event of it the way they did with the other High School Musical movies. Even the first one, before they knew how big it would be, got more hype than this movie, produced by lead actress Ashley Tisdale.

It is in this movie that Sharpay finally gets the redemption arc she deserved. Actually this isn't a bad film at all, Tisdale is clearly game in the lead, making light of a so-so script and playing it all in an OTT way.
